Panel Composition: Colony count of bacteria isolated.
Susceptibility testing will be performed appropriate to organism isolated if indicated by Microbiology protocol.
Preferred Container: 1 x Urine Cup
Sample Type: Urine - Voided, catheterized,cystoscopic, bladder tap, vesicostomy.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 ml
Special Collection Instructions: Method and time of collection must be indicated.
Specimen Transport: Deliver to lab immediately on wet ice.

Causes for Rejection: Prolonged transport time - urines received in lab > 2 hrs after collection

- urines not refrigerated when collection time exceeds 2 hrs

- Urines refrigerated but not set up within 24 hrs

Testing Frequency: Inoculation - 24 hours; Cultures read daily.
